Jack 5 months

I haven't done a Jack update in awhile. I attempted to do weekly updates but who has time for that!

Jack will be a wonderful 5 months old this month and he is growing up to be a handsome little boy.

Milk Intake: 6oz, first feed in the morning Jack has a full carton which is around 7oz.

Weight: 14lb 4oz

Nappy size: Pampers New Baby 3

Clothes size: 3-6 months.

Weaning: Jack has been on porridge and rice for quite awhile now. He has taken to it extremely well. He has Aptamil porridge/banana porridge in the mid morning and either Aptamil rice or porridge in the evening. His favourite is banana porridge, he wolfs it down! We are going to try him with pureed fruit and veg in the coming weeks.

Sleep: Jack has been sleeping from 7pm to 6-7am. He used to go to bed at 9pm but as he is getting older he goes to bed earlier. He's not a fan of daytime napping, he fights it so so much. It's a constant battle to get him to sleep in the day. When he does nap he prefers to nap on his tummy and he has preferred this from a young age. He sleeps on his back at night though.

Development: Jack can now roll over from his front to his back. He can shufty around on his back. He can stand up supported. He loves to chew his fingers and hands. He has discovered his feet and likes to chew them. The last couple of weeks he has noticed Max more and follows him around with his eyes. He constantly wants to touch Max and reaches out for him. When he does get him he grabs handfuls of fur much to Max's dismay! He is exploring so much with his hands, he wants to tough and feel everything. Your hair, your face, toys, mobile phones, Max, books, everything. He is very nosy and very alert. He can hold his own bottles. He can lie on his front and support his head. He can push himself up when sat back on someone.
He is dribbling an awful lot at the moment, I know the dreaded teething is not far. But for now it's fine being dribbled on!

Likes: He loves the tv, we have to switch it off sometimes because he won't drink his bottles. He loves mobile phones. He loves Bananas in Pyjamas. He loves his jumperoo-he fell asleep in it the other day and getting Jack to sleep in the day is a battle so that was a huge surprise. He loves anything crinkly or rattles or lights up. He loves his daddy-he giggles for him so much. He loves banana porridge and grabs the bowl and puts his head in it. He loves being naked. He loves to stand up aided. His most happy time is tummy full of banana porridge standing up naked.

Dislikes: He hates his car seat-he hates being all cramped up and not being able to move around. He hates being dressed. Pants are ok but anything over the head and arm he screams blue murder. He doesn't like it when his bowl is empty. He hates being cleaned. Baths are ok but top to tails and his face being cleaned is a no no. He hates his nose being cleaned! Jack has a dummy usually when going down for a nap or in the car seat-it helps him settle because both of these things upset him. Most of the time he spits it out and sucks on his fingers. His most unhappy time is being put down for a nap.

The last month or so we have noticed eczema on Jack. It started at the back of his knees and elbows and now it is on his back and tummy too. I'm really sad because eczema is a tough part of my life. It's something that doesn't have a cure and I have to live with. HV said that eczema is common in babies and it's not a surprise that Jack has it as I have it and James had baby eczema on his thighs. So I just have to keep moisturising him with Diprobase and keep an eye on it. He hasn't bothered yet and I hope it doesn't because that's the worst part. Itching it makes it worse, I know this but Jack won't and it will break my heart seeing him so upset. I hope he grows out of it! Fingers crossed!

Happy 5th month Jack James xx
